Paying for medicines
If you are an outpatient or need medicine when you leave hospital, you will need to pay for your medication. We will give you an invoice with your medicine or post it to your home address.
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples may be able to get medicines at a reduced price. Talk to our pharmacy team when you give them your prescription.
Read more about how you can get help with the cost of your medicines on the Services Australia website.
How we help patients
Our pharmacists work with you and your medical team to make sure you are getting the right medicines.
They will:
- Check your medicine history, including allergies, or adverse reactions you may have had
- Answering any questions you may have and giving you a list of all your medications for your stay
- Making sure you know how and when to take your medicine when you get home
- Providing any prescribed medications you need during your stay
- Giving you information to help you understand what each medicine does.
