Works are currently underway at Goondiwindi Hospital to improve the facility and meet the needs of the growing community.

Darling Downs Health Director of Nursing Ms Allison Cilento said the works commenced in January and are expected to continue until the end of the year.

The works being completed include replacing the air conditioning and ventilation systems, new clinical storerooms, bathroom upgrades and upgrades to the front entrance ramp.

“One of the key improvements being made to the facility is the air-conditioning and ventilation systems. These systems are being replaced to ensure our patients and staff are provided with a comfortable and regulated environment,” Ms Cilento said.

“Another key improvement is the works underway in our theatre and birthing suite. While this work is being completed, we have installed a temporary theatre on the side of the hospital.

“To better accommodate the needs of our patients two new ensuites in the bathrooms of the acute ward are among the works being completed.

“These bathroom improvements will provide patients with increased privacy and convenience during their stay.

“Our community will have already noticed the front entrance ramp is being replaced. We continue to ask visitors to the hospital to use the temporary entrance in place until this work is completed in the coming weeks.

“Three new clinical storerooms have been completed as part of this project. The storerooms are already in use, and our staff are very happy with the improved storage and accessibility of essential medical supplies.

“All these structural improvements contribute to creating a more modern, comfortable and efficient environment for both our staff and patients.
