Wondai Hospital’s Jack Christoffel has been awarded a prestigious $35,000 scholarship to study to become a registered nurse.

Jack has worked at Wondai’s Forest View Aged Care facility as an Assistant in Nursing for the past seven years and was prompted to commence his registered nursing career after a conversation with a colleague.

“Our acting Director of Nursing Amelia Simpkins, as well as our Clinical Facilitator, told me about the possible scholarship opportunities that are available through the Australian College of Nursing,” Jack said.

“When I found out the scholarship applications had opened, I applied that same day.

“It is going to be so helpful for me. It will mean I will still have some work/life balance while studying and completing placements.”

In his current role, Jack looks after the residents’ everyday care needs, and he looks forward to drawing upon his experiences in his new role as a registered nurse.

“I like being part of the residents’ lives, and seeing the difference we make,” Jack said.
