The Darling Downs community is encouraged to complete the new Toowoomba Hospital artwork survey to help shape the development of artwork themes in the new facility.
Darling Downs Health Chief Executive Annette Scott PSM said the survey would help set the foundations to paint the picture of the New Toowoomba Hospital.
“Seeing and experiencing artwork within a health setting can greatly impact a person’s experience when they’re coming to us for care,” Ms Scott said.
“This hospital is designed for our community’s specific needs and it’s important the artwork is also attuned to local stories and sentiments.”
Ms Scott said the first step in planning for the integration of art throughout the new facility was to develop a set of themes.
“These themes will reflect who we are as a health service, a community, and a region. They’ll set the tone for all artwork developed across the hospital,” she said.
“We’ve had the opportunity to speak to people from all walks of life throughout this project and we’ll be applying what we’ve heard when developing the key themes.
“The artwork survey is another opportunity to join the conversation and share your thoughts about what living in this region means to you.”
Darling Downs Health Board Chair Dr Dennis Campbell said collaborating with the community to develop the artwork themes would provide an opportunity to showcase local stories.
“We have a real opportunity here to guide the messaging the artwork will express in the new hospital,” Dr Campbell said.
“We’re looking to the community for their input because we want the artwork in the new hospital to reflect the beauty of the Darling Downs. There is some incredible talent within our region and there will be great opportunities for local artists to get involved when we get to that point in the project.
“You don’t have to be an artist or art enthusiast to complete the survey – we’re encouraging all residents from the Darling Downs and surrounds to share what this region and this community means to them.”
