The Delicious and Delightful Festival is a popular community event attracting visitors from across Queensland.

But for residents at Karingal Residential Aged Care facility, health restrictions meant they weren’t able to join the celebrations in town. So, determined staff brought the festival to them to ensure they didn’t miss out.

Colourful artwork, handmade lanterns, multicultural food, and live music made for a joyful celebration at Karingal.

Assistant in Nursing Rachael Stone said the day centred around the opening of the Delicious and Delightful Festival.

“It’s something different, and it’s just really nice to be able to showcase the resident’s talent and what they’ve been working on recently,” Ms Stone said.

“They’ve been really excited in the lead-up to the day as we shine a spotlight on Karingal.”

The residents got into the swing of celebrations, including Pauline Daly.

“Well I like these gatherings. I like it here, I think it’s a credit to the town,” she said.

Recreational Officer Gabriele Peters said it’s been amazing to bring a full day of fun to the facility.

“They’ve been working hard all year on this with their artwork and with all of the songs they’ve been singing,” Ms Peters said.

“To put their artwork up is very precious and for the residents to see it go up is amazing.”

The facility festival was hailed a success, with plenty of smiles from both residents and staff.
