Southern Downs women are being encouraged to book in for a free breast screen, with the BreastScreen Queensland Mobile Service announcing its new location for this year.
Starting from this week and continuing until early January 2024, the BreastScreen Mobile will be conveniently situated in Leslie Park, at the corner of Albert and Palmerin Streets in Warwick.
Service Manager, Sue Virtue, expressed her enthusiasm about this prominent location in the heart of Warwick.
"BreastScreen is thrilled to be in such a highly visible spot at Leslie Park. Our BreastScreen Mobile is as large as a bus, so people won’t be able to miss it.
"We're thrilled to bring this vital service back to Warwick and hope that as many local women as possible will take advantage of the opportunity to receive a free breast screen.
Regular two-yearly screening at BreastScreen Queensland allows us to detect any breast changes at an earlier stage when they are more easily treatable,"
Service Manager, Sue Virtue
The free breast screening service is available to women aged 40 and above. For those between the ages of 50 and 74, it is strongly recommended to have a breast screen every two years, as 75% of breast cancer diagnoses occur within this age range.
BreastScreen Queensland is committed to making breast screening both accessible and convenient.
The Mobile Service visits over 30 sites across the Darling Downs and South-West every two years, and offers a variety of appointment times, including select Saturday appointments in Warwick.
Phone 13 20 50 for an appointment or speak with your GP or Health Worker. Additionally, for further information or to book online, please visit www.breastscreen.qld.gov.au.
