Over the past 12 months, Darling Downs Health staff have continued to provide high-quality care while identifying opportunities to improve services, open facilities, and plan for game-changing new ones.

Chief Executive Annette Scott PSM said 2022 was certainly one for the history books.

“Perhaps the most exciting announcement of the year was made during the 2022/2023 State Government Budget in June.

“We welcomed the news of $1.3 billion in capital funding for the New Toowoomba Hospital, and received confirmation of a rebuild of Tara Hospital.

“2022 also saw the opening of Kingaroy’s new state-of-the-art hospital, and upgraded palliative care facilities in Miles.

“From the launch of our Health Equity Strategy, to solar panels projects and milestone facility celebrations; it’s certainly been a busy year.

“And although it feels like a lifetime ago, Darling Downs Health’s efforts throughout the pandemic can not be understated.

“Toowoomba’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic closed in April after delivering more than 80,000 doses, while testing sites across the region closed in September,” said Ms Scott

Other significant statistics include:

  • 3,000 babies born across Darling Downs Health hospitals
  • 178,070 Emergency Department presentations across Darling Downs Health hospitals
  • 100% of Category 1 patients seen within the clinically recommended time.

Ms Scott said that while the numbers were impressive, what’s even more impressive are the people behind them.

“The strength of our organisation relies on the quality of our staff, who show up to work every day to make a difference in their communities.

“I have so much admiration for our exceptionally dedicated staff and I’d like to thank them for all of their efforts in 2022.

“Our achievements simply would not have been possible, without them.”
