If the weather outside is rainy or cold, it can be easy to lose your motivation to get up and do a workout. But what if we told you there is a way you can exercise comfortably no matter what the weather is doing? AND it’s also lots of fun? This unicorn exists, and it is in the form of aqua aerobic classes at the heated pool in our Baillie Henderson Aquatic Centre.

There are many benefits of exercising in water:

  • It offers a low impact workout for people of all levels of fitness
  • It is a great way to improve your body strength and cardiovascular fitness
  • Water provides natural resistance to activate your muscles while putting less stress on your joints
  • Water puts a gentle pressure on your body, helping to move your blood around and putting less strain on your heart
  • Less gravity = greater range of movement.

And just because exercising in water is low impact doesn’t mean it is low intensity – you can expect to get a full body workout that will improve your overall fitness.

Swimming is also one of the best forms of exercise you can do. It is a gentle, low impact sport for all ages and fitness levels, and a fantastic way to tone muscle and improve your lung capacity.
